Everton are nearing a decision on their future manager after Rafa Benitez was fired over a week ago. Everton are ready to make a judgement on Frank Lampard, Vitor Pereira, and Duncan Ferguson, and Frank Lampard was one of the favourites for the job.
Lampard has given at least a handful of interviews, and reports believe he may be named the new Everton manager soon. Since parting ways with Chelsea in January 2021, the 43-year-old has been unemployed. Lampard has been connected with jobs at Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and even Everton before Benitez was recruited. Lampard didn't have much success with Chelsea, but one thing for which he was praised was his use of youth and grooming of the youths. During his time as Chelsea manager, the Chelsea icon was instrumental in baptising and refining the club's youngsters. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Fikayo Tomori, and Callum Hudson-Odoi can all witness to this. Everton's burgeoning young stars may follow a similar path of growth. Due to Lampard's amicable connection with the Derby board, he was able to arrange several loan deals with Chelsea, as Tomori and Mount joined on loan from Chelsea and went on to play a key role in Derby's path to the Championship play-off final.
With the Toffees lacking depth and facing relegation, they will need quality choices in the team, and there's a chance Lampard may do his best to entice some Chelsea talent, although on a temporary basis.
